Please note the following important instructions for managing a nose bleed:
- Sit head up and squeeze both nostrils tightly for five minutes – if bleeding persists notify your doctor
- Once the bleeding stops do not blow your nose for 48 hours – then only gently
- If you sneeze, keep your mouth open so the force of the sneeze can be expelled through the mouth
- Do not strain, lean over or lift heavy objects
- Keep your head up at all times
- Coat the inside of your nose lightly with either Vaseline, Nasalate or Bactroban ointment
- Use a saline spray to help keep the membranes inside the nose moist
